PREVENTION...
MCRC has always placed a high priority on prevention
services. This includes providing programs geared to
prevent the on-set of alcohol and other drug use, abuse
and addiction, as well addressing problems associated with
alcohol and other drug use and abuse prior to treatment.
Our prevention consultant services are available to design
and implement special programs for specific populations
(schools, churches, etc.). Categories include:
Information Dissemination: Sharing information with a
focus on building awareness and Knowledge.
Alternatives: Strategies resulting in providing
opportunities for positive activities as a means
of reducing risk-taking behaviors.
Education: Delivery of services with the intent of
affecting knowledge, attitude and/or behavior.
Community-Based Process: Enhancing the
ability of the community to provide
prevention services through training,
planning and collaboration.
Problem Identification and Referral:
Services focus on preventing the
progression of the problem.
